After graduating high school valedictorian and summa cum laude from a top university, I thought I would find happiness in the corporate world. I discovered disillusionment, addictive behaviors and depression. I went back to the field of education in the hope of making a real difference in the lives of teens & their families. Fast forward 15 years of working in the field of education…
I found myself heartbroken.
More and more students were disengaging from the academic process in both middle and high school. Graduates were returning sharing how disillusioned they felt at work—even those that graduated from prestigious colleges!! Many in their early 20’s are already suffering from anxiety, back pain, insomnia and other issues related to depression at work. Despite the good intentions of many educators across the country, too many schools are falling short of empowering students to be both HAPPY & SUCCESSFUL. As it gets more challenging to pay bills and more stressful to deal with the all the uncertainty, it is up to us as parents and educators to forge a new future for our children.
